His name was Jack and he was actually my landlord doggo. But we lived next door to the landlord who was already in the elderly age. Luckily we were in a good relationship with them and helped out with walking the 4paws, or taking care of him while they were on holidays and gardening. And Jack being a German pointer , one of his personality traits was being an escape artist. And we were his usual destination... For cuddles, walks or little treats....he even learnt to open our door so he was coming and going as he wished.
I am naturally very close to the animal kingdom but with Jack I formed a very unique and special bond. He wasn't only my walking buddy, therapist , partner in crime but a spiritual teacher , who taught me a deeper language / connection with animals.
So when we received the news in December 2021 about his cancer , I was devastated. The vet wanted to put him down in January but it didn't feel right. It felt like he wasn't ready , as he was asking to help to have a little bit more life here with us. So I pledged with the landlord to surrender to my ways and give him a little bit more time. Going down the road of alternative medicine such as CBD oil, arnica..... The landlord gave me a chance..... A gift you could call it . And it was hard.... because his pooping time was screaming pain , which was bringing tears to my eyes....You could ask or judge me if it was inhumane... But when he was done , he was expressing so much gratitude to handle his pain and back to enjoying the walks , suspecting rabbit holes, cuddles.....We had an extra 6 month before his body gave up. And it was magical. And it was worth it! The last 2 days we spent in the barn , laying on straws, watching the beautiful Painswick valley.... And all I felt from him is deep love and gratitude to give him a little more time. And it was a beautiful ceremony .... Everyone came to say goodbye and spent some special moments with him. Animals can feel everything, animals have deep feelings... You just need to give up your human condition and let them teach you their language. And a whole new dimension/ possibilities will open up.You not only learn about life but about yourself. Let magic change you!
